On a summer day in mid July 2006, God told me to look at myself in the mirror! He guided my eyes to the mole on my left shoulder/chest area. It was no longer a brown circle- it had split in half with irregular borders! I immediately knew this was not a good sign. I went to see the dermatologist in my best friend Pat’s office. The biopsy confirmed Malignant Melanoma and she referred me to an oncological surgeon. I asked her to be honest with me, my son was only 8 years old, what was I looking at here? She calmly said early detection is key- let’s see how it will be staged after surgery. Fear was the first feeling that hit me! If I died, my little boy would have no parents- his father died in 2004!  I cried and cried, not for myself but for my son. I felt no anger towards God, I’m happy to go to His presence when He wills it. I was worried about my son, Kaleb. I prayed, my family and friends prayed, my Pastor prayed and my patients prayed. I asked for Grace and Mercy, that He’d let me live so I could raise my child.
“We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.” Psalm 33:20
The whole time I was in the hospital going through all the pre-surgical testings, Jesus was with me. I was so grateful for his presence and peace. God even assigned two Christian nurses to my case, they prayed with me just before I went under anesthesia. God is so good. “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him” Psalm 62:5 On the post-op day when my stitches were removed, the surgeon told me that the cancer was Stage 1. He had removed all of it, no Lymph nodes were involved and I was in the clear. Hallelujah! It is by His Grace that I am still here, every day is a gift from God. I am so grateful to Him.

A few years later, the Lord gave me another gift, He led me to Oasis- a prayer group for women. My faith grew and matured as years went by and my friendship with April and the other members of Oasis matured into sisterhood. I have had the privilege to watch this beautiful ministry grow and blossom. Oasis feels like Home, loving and comfortable. I’m so grateful to God.

An axe is more than just a tool—it’s a survival companion for outdoor explorers. Lightweight and efficient, it allows campers to cut, split, and shape wood effortlessly, making it a versatile addition to any camping or hiking gear setup.
